Duravit

A Leader in Water Efficiency

Having its roots in the exceptional natural landscape of the Black Forest has profoundly influenced Duravit’s history and ideology. Integral to the company’s philosophy is preservation of the environment and making responsible choices in terms of materials used, production processes, resources and recycling. Whether it is products themselves that save water in use, or manufacturing processes that minimize the use of resources, “green” thinking is engrained in everything the company does.

About Duravit

Nearly 200 years of history have witnessed the development of Duravit, from a small factory in Hornberg, Germany, to a designer bathroom brand. Founded in 1817 in the heart of the Black Forest, Duravit today is a leading manufacturer of ceramic sanitaryware, bathroom furniture, whirl tubs and accessories. With a tradition of excellence and a forward-looking stance, the company prides itself on being design-driven, technologically cutting-edge, and environmentally sensitive.

Today, the company no longer regards itself simply as a think-tank for beautiful design products but increasingly as a supplier of unique bathroom experiences. The slogan “Living Bathrooms” incorporates Duravit’s idea to create bathrooms that reflect the way we live. The Duravit brand stands for self-confidence, creativity, design, quality and trust. A clear-cut brand promise reinforces product identification and strengthens customer loyalty and the decision to buy.

Because of Duravit’s commitment to high-quality design, functionality and aesthetics, the company has continued to collaborate with world-renowned architects, including Philippe Starck, Norman Foster, Sieger Design, EOOS and Phoenix Design, amongst others, to develop its innovative bathroom collections.

Low-flow toilets

Duravit has been developing low-flow toilets for the past 45 years, and has been at the helm of providing green solutions for the plumbing industry in the U.S. Currently, Duravit offers a wide variety of wall-hung toilets as well as floor-standing toilets that exceed green standards in the U.S. As “green codes” continue to evolve in the market, Duravit products will be altered accordingly, to reflect the company’s commitment to developing products that guarantee a higher quality of life.

Recently, Duravit achieved WaterSense approval for its entire offering of wallmounted toilets. The WaterSense approval of Duravit’s wallmounted toilets means that these products comply with the EPA’s rigorous performance mandate for High Efficiency Toilets (HET), which is currently 1.28 or less gallons per flush (gpf). This new development reaffirms Duravit’s commitment to the environment and exemplifies the “green” thinking that is engrained in everything the company does.

Each of Duravit’s wallmounted toilets, which feature dual-flush technology, allow for a an effective use of 1.1 gpf, and test results in fact show that Duravit bowls perform at even lower averages while maintaining high performance results. This means that a family of four could save approximately 11,000 gallons of water per year should they choose to replace their standard floorstanding toilets with wallmounts.

When the environmental performance of our products is concerned, Duravit has one clear focus: any unnecessary water consumption that is technically avoidable is significantly reduced, so that capacities can be used in areas where they truly contribute to improving quality of life.
